As a branch of chemistry, asymmetric synthesis refers to that form of chemical synthesis, which produces stereoisomeric products and chirality in large unequal amounts. This synthesis is used in pharmaceutics because it produces diastereomers and enantiomers which are very helpful in drug discovery.
