The book provides an overview of these issues as they are reflected in the region, and covers the period from the conclusion of the Assam Movement till the present. The Assam Movement spawned a culture of violence which led to the emergence of insurgent outfits in the state. This resulted in the naturalization of violence as a part of everyday living.
