The aim of this book is to teach children to become aware of the differences between thinking, feeling and behaving; the ways in which they can use both the brain and feelings in order to inform behaviour. The stories are designed to improve problem-solving skills, self-reflection and self-awareness. There are two stories for each of the nine themes discussed in this book. The first story is more appropriate for younger children and the second for older children. Each story follows the same pattern: focus (main points and brief summary); the story and flag points or discussion stops; activities (such as circle time, drawing, writing, group work, etc.); homework; reflection; and two endings for the story (intended to prompt further discussion and reflection).
