This book describes ways to help teachers teach using technology and project-based instruction. It opens with a theoretical 3-year school-improvement plan that outlines a framework for developing curricula that address real-world applications. The second chapter describes how schools can write a sound technology plan of action, which includes technology goals and a 3-year staff-development schedule. Chapter 3 provides a model for aligning integrated units with real-world projects and includes examples of how teachers weave technology throughout the learning process to give students the skills that they will need as they enter the work force. The fourth chapter discusses the structuring of project-based environments using technology and the allocation of time for instructional seminars, conferences, and projects. Classroom-management ideas for multiple-computer and one-computer classrooms are covered, and goals for integrating projects and curriculum are outlined for each of the 3 years of restructuring. The last chapter discusses a wide range of assessments to evaluate both the processes and results of student learning. Components of school restructure are integrated into assessment and performance tasks are aligned to multiple intelligences. The text advocates the use of multiple assessments to give parents a holistic picture of their children's learning. Three appendices offer templates and further information.
