The Subcommittee on Pressure Vessel Steels (formerly S/C on Cryogenic Steels) of the Japan Pressure Vessel Research Council (JPVRC) undertook surveys on the steels for cryogenic application in the past.These activities resulted in two reports which were presented to the PVRC: Cryogenic Application of Ferrous Materials in JAPAN and Application of CR Plate to Storage Tanks and Pressure Vessels. These reports mainly dealt with the toughness of steels, and the effects of chemical compositions and other various factors in the manufacture of steel plate were surveyed and discussed.
