This WRC Bulletin is an updating of the tables of suggested practices for shielded metal-arc welding of carbon and low-alloy steels contained in Chapter 8 of the book Weldability of Steels by Stout and Doty.Since the manuscript of the book was prepared, new or revised specifications for steel have been issued by ASTM, AISI, SAE, ABS, and API; while other specifications were discontinued.
