Total wind turbine orders collected in this update of Navigant Researchs Wind Turbine Order Tracker totaled 14,743.9 MW of capacity.These orders included announced projects from 24 different countries and 11 different vendors.Vestas extended its lead among turbine vendors with 6,445.15 MW of capacity reported--almost 3,000 MW more than in 1H 2016. Gamesa jumped into 2nd place with 2,011.0 MW of turbine orders announced.Offshore giant MHI Vestas--a joint venture of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Vestas--settled in 3rd place thanks to four large offshore wind orders.Asia Pacific led all regions in wind turbine order capacity in this update after an increase of more than 1,800 MW from 1H 2016. Strong showings from India and Australia were the main drivers for this jump in capacity. Thanks to a strong finish for the United States, North America leapt ahead of Europe for 2nd place with 3,688.1 MW. Europe fell to 3rd place with 3,522.8 MW of disclosed turbine order capacity. Latin America remained in 4th place despite more than doubling its order total from 1H 2016 and the Middle East & Africa held 5th place with a strong showing of 525.5 MW.This Navigant Research report tracks all publicly announced wind turbine orders between July and December 2016 (2H 2016).
